Mission Statement


We recognize that assistive technology can help eliminate barriers and enable all Lancaster Mennonite School (LMS) students access to appropriate educational opportunities. Assistive technology services can help facilitate the achievement of educational goals for the students in our schools. Therefore, the mission of the assistive technology action plan is to:

  • provide Lancaster Mennonite School teachers with information on assistive technology tools, and services that will ultimately benefit all students in their classrooms
  • develop a systematic approach for identifying students with special needs who would benefit from some form of assistive tecghnology
  • match students with assistive technology tools that are available within our school system
  • develop a timeline for the acquisition and implementaton of assistive technology tools and services within our school system
  • provide training to the students (and their families) who are using assistive technology tools and services
  • improve access to education for all students in the Lancaster Mennonite School system
  • provide ongoing training to LMS teachers as they work with students who are using specific AT devices in their classrooms
